Named after Boo from BG3. He and his brother Minsc were found somewhere outside in the box. Fortunately, found by someone more responsible and given to a local rodent shelter. They both spent a few months there, before eventually Buu arrived at my house, and Minsc also found his own.
He was a very active hammie, completely okay with being handled. At around the 3-month mark at our house, he began actively asking for attention, waking up when hearing someone outside, and desperately trying to climb our hands. He also distinguished me from my partner. I would never be bitten, while every time Buu would appear near my boyfriend's hands, he would gently bite him, as if saying "hi."
But Buu was getting old really quickly. He was getting thinner and thinner, couldn't hold urine, and became less and less active. The vet's visit didn't diagnose anything specific. I tried to make his living as easy as possible, giving him food and water closer to him, and preparing baby food. Even though he was so weak and would stop running in his wheel, up until the end he would climb into our hands eagerly. He died on my hand, a heart attack I assume. It's painful to describe even now. Maybe the first half of his life was not very good. I hope the care he got from me made him a happy hammie.
